Samsung Galaxy S5 Overview

Samsung has left no stones unturned to take android phones to greater heights with the announcement and release of Samsung Galaxy S5. Considerably outdoing Galaxy S4, Samsung seems like it is aiming to make their latest version the first priority for all android and non-android users. Needless to say, with the release of Galaxy S5, there will be a significant pressure on all mobile devices – not just Android operating system, but also iOS and Windows.

But before you buy into anybody’s word of mouth, you must be aware of the facts by yourself. Here’s a brief analysis of the features and specifications of the S5 model of the Samsung Galaxy series. Whether or not this affects your choice, which is for you to decide after that.

Release Date

Unlike it launching Galaxy S4 in March, Samsung has decided to launch the Galaxy S5 model earlier this year. As per their official invite, it will be launched in their event named ‘Unpacked 5’ on Feb 24th, 2014 in > Barcelona.

The release of this phone seems particularly un-hyped by Samsung since it doesn’t let out any additional detail; however, this has only given an impetus to the speculations around the mysterious launch. The earlier launch is speculated to be strategically placed so as to get an early start to compensate for the slower rate of profit growth, since Samsung Galaxy S4 proved to be less profitable than Samsung sought for it to be.

With a super AMOLED captive touch-screen, you will see an improvement in comparison with Galaxy S4. Not just that, but the screen size is increased to 1440 x 2560 pixels in 5.25 inches. With a display of 16 million colors, your display is going to be tons better than the previous model. The corning Gorilla Glass 3 only adds to the scratch resistance and much-required safety of the phone.

Samsung Galaxy S5 will witness a significant improvement in the camera. Not just primary camera, but also the secondary front camera. With a 16 megapixel front camera, with features such as Dual Shot, touch focus, geo-tagging, Simultaneous HD video and image stabilization, face and smile detection, image recording, HDR and a 3.2 megapixel front camera, you are sure to be left amazed.

Storage and Processing

S5 is going to have the option between the internal memory of 32 GB and 64GB. As if that memory isn’t enough already, the additional memory through a card slot can be extended till 64 GB again. To deal with such massive data, it is equipped with a RAM of 3GB and a quad core 2.5 GHz processor. It runs on the Android OS v 4.4.2 (Kit Kat).

It can only be speculated what material the body of the phone will be made of. If speculations are to be believed, Samsung may just come out with an all metal body for Galaxy S5. However, there are significant rumors about the body being plastic in nature too.

Moreover, after Google’s request to make all Android devices function from on the screen itself, Samsung is said to remove the home screen button from the body of the phone altogether.
